  • New Year Resolutions

You didn’t think I could possibly let the beginning of 2011 go without a wallpaper! It’s a few days late I admit, but it’s all part of my resolutions!

I hope you like it, and here’s where you can download it:

    800×480800×6001024×7681280×8001440×900,
1680×10501920×1080, 1920×1200, iPhone, iPhone retina, iPad

As for me, this month and the next will bring a major shift in my life. I will tell you all about it in due time, but do wish me luck for it!!

Until then, take care & enjoy this lovely tune…

  • A trip to the Cedars – I

    north lebanon cedars

To be continued tomorrow! (I have tons and tons of work these days, so will post bit by bit rather than not posting at all…)

I consider myself very lucky to have a friend like Nadine and I wish her the best for the year to come in Montreal. Now it’s back to reality with the start of another working week… Good thing we have music to give us back the good memories. We listened to this during our road trip, and I, to  certain extent, identify with the lyrics.

Enjoy, and most importantly, be yourself––no matter what they say! ♫ 😉

  • Defining Entrepreneurship #2

Web entrepreneur: I spend my days browsing "websites" in order to eventually get hit by a brilliant idea that has already been implemented 10,000+ times.

    .

    .

Green entrepreneur: i know how to seize every single opportunity be it mountain climbing or scuba diving

    .

    .

tech entrepreneur: i got an ipad before you!

    .

    .

social entrepreneur: we used to call it PR but the terminology was changed to fit the entrepreneurship era

    .

    .

Music entrepreneur: my latest clip "hobbak nar" was a revolution in the arabic music biz. i had the brilliant idea of bathing in corn flakes. it was the right thing to do, my song has been top 1 since.

Got more ideas? share away! :-)

[NB: This post (& the previous one) are criticizing the way the  concept of “entrepreneurship” has been overused & abused on the web lately, in the Arab world specifically. Yet it does not deny in any way the existence of  “true entrepreneurs” who work/have worked very hard and of whom we are extremely proud 🙂 ]

The content of this post was “crowdsourced over a friendly chat in Cafe Younes. And that was today’s lesson in Entrepreneurship 101! On a lighter note, the whole “entrepreneurship” parodies happening on Twitter are extremely hilarious, thank you #Maniachi team for adding laughter to our feeds everyday 🙂

I’ll now leave you with the music of an artist I only discovered yesterday thanks to Raafat Hamze (who also happens to have great writings on his blog).

    Have a lovely day! 🙂

Now if this gets boring, you can push the challenge to level 2 by combining Y.A.S.’ song in the background “wa7ad, tnein, tleteh, arb3a, setteh, tna3sh, setteh, tna3sh… (it can get really confusing!) Yea so I have really exhausted all the possible ways of passing time in traffic, and yesterday evening, from Beirut to Jounieh, was HELL! Hope the weekend will make it up. Have a lovely weekend all 🙂

It was very disappointing to attend the “Day of Spanish” so called and find a trance mode there! After endless centuries of beats, the band finally arrived. This caused most people to start chatting and expressing extreme annoyance to the beautiful, authentic music that was being played!! I mean, you’re not supposed to go to “day of spanish” if what you want is moving to repetitive beats. Some people probably confuse celebrating with partying. Anyway, as they say in spanish “sobre gustos y colores, nada han dicho los pintores”, meaning that no rules are written about tastes and colors, and everyone is free to enjoy what (s)he thinks is right!

With this thought, I wish you all a lovely tasty week-end !  😀

Getting new jazz CDs in an addiction that – unfortunately, and given that buying original CDs is one of my deepest beliefs – costs a decent amount of money. Whenever I go to a music shop and contemplate all the possibilities it just breaks my heart to the core because I know I will get out with only one or two items :'( Well, at least there’s one or two items, let’s start our day with a positive thought! 😀

PS. This post is dedicated to Alain, one of the best musicians of the century, who ingrained this addiction in me, and who has an unequalled passion for music.
