  • Illustrations + feature in ArabAd

I was fortunate to meet Ghada Azzi, managing editor of ArabAd magazine at the book signing. We have since worked on illustrations for the ‘Advertising in Lebanon’ special report of October issue, along an extremely kind feature that Ghada wrote. Thank you so much Ghada for your invaluable support! I won’t keep you waiting too long, you’ll find below the illustrations for the special report along with the article and illustrated Q&A’s (you should get the magazine now for the extremely interesting content and report about Leb ad industry!). Have a wonderful day! 🙂

I’m having the chance to work on a top-secret project (that i’ll be revealing to you super-soon!) and I must say that I finally found someone in Lebanon who KNOWS how to deal with graphic designers and who actually believes that their job requires expertise in the domain. The problem of working in Lebanon (and in fields requiring visual communication such as architecture, interior design, fashion  design …) is that all the citizens think those jobs require ‘zo2’ meaning taste, and are not a matter of expertise or experience…  Besides, I always get comments implying that our job is overrated, that it is all about doing some coloring and drawing… So to all of you potential graphic-design-clients out there, learn from the above example and stop taking our profession lightly.

Sometimes being a designer can be very enriching: we work on the design of books about science, technology, history, and thus we learn a lot. But the REAL torture is actually having to work on a book about vacation and relaxation places while you’re stuck home on a friday night. The visuals of SPA, and COTTAGES, and and.. can actually have a damaging impact on your mental health. I was this close of jumping from the balcony. This only means one thing: I am going to need a real vacation real soon!

Being the only graphic designer in the whole wide family is not always an advantage I must say… It is nice to help others from time to time – when “others” KNOW their LIMITS!! 😀
