Ode to Municipal Elections: On a breezy April morning, just like a divine call The holes where my car was accustomed to fall Suddenly disappeared, all On that same [once un]fortunate path That used to host drivers' wrath Flamboyant roundabouts have blossomed Midst this jolly festival I ask myself: what the h##l? Must be municipal elections already! Maybe we should make them yearly? For road adjustments more regularly!

I hope you like my poem. I felt like writing it to express my amazement at the latest road adjustments in Jounieh. Note that this is freestyle poetry so don’t judge the rhymes or syllables 😛

Now for the true poetry, here’s Ella Fitzgerald singing ‘Ev’ry time we say goodbye!’ Have a beautiful week! 🙂

Right after last week’s crazy lady adventure, this week-end I get ‘taxi adventure’. And because I don’t learn my lesson about how everyone knows everything in Lebanon, I had to undergo a panic attack before the driver explained to me the sequence of events that led to him knowing my family tree better than I do. I’m sure he thought I was lying, but I really don’t know my extended family tree. I can barely remember where I placed my phone 2 seconds ago, let alone remember the voting areas of every single family member of mine! I have to say the Lebanese are gifted on the memory level. Maybe that’s why they can’t get over the civil war…

Well, it was about time we removed all those semi-nudes female ads from the streets. What a joy to see them replaced with… Male hunks! It’s funny how our dear politicians are acting as models now. I must admit I just can’t used to the idea of driving in the streets and seeing semi-photoshopped political figures around instead of the semi-nude super model females. How far will you go for those stupid elections?

When I asked about the date of the elections, they told me in JUNE! If the elections pressure is already THAT strong mid april, I wonder what will happen the week before the elections–if we survive till then! All the billboards and unipoles are covered with elections, people talk about elections all the time, radio, TV, internet, everywhere! Its starting to get quite annoying… Please people just take the elections easy, and let’s not make a big fuss about them alright?
