This is the story of how my upcoming book “Beirut – New York” came to be.
From Beirut to New York
Last summer, I took a vacation and traveled from Beirut to New York City. While the trip provided a much needed time out, the blow of coming back to everyday life in Beirut weighed on me.
My post-vacation blues got me wondering what makes certain cities more desirable than others.
Unexpectedly, I started noticing similarities between these highly incompatible cities: Beirut and New York City. Some elements that we are willing to travel across the world to experience are present right here, yet somehow we devalue them or forget about them.
Unlikely similarities
After deliberation, the list of similarities grew longer. Next thing I knew, I was turning these ideas into illustrations.
Beirut – New York is a series of 40 unlikely similarities between Beirut and New York, illustrated.
It will take you on a journey of comparisons between two unique, beautiful, and incompatible cities that have more in common than meets the eye.

I’m currently putting the finishing touches to the book, which should go to print next week! I’ll be sharing details very soon about the book launching event.
