Did you ever have a chance to flip through a typically social Lebanese magazine? (bala ma nsammeh 😛 ) I have to say that I found the experience quite nauseating. Is this what happens in the private social gatherings in our country? Do people really look so fake in real life? Do fifty something women really have that much time on their hands for brunches and dunches and birthdays? I wish they would invest all their money in matters that are worthier than gossiping and showing off.

    Shallowness at its best…
    I really don’t like plastic, I prefer human flesh…
The extra thing, they all go to the same surgeons and get the same nose, lift, boobs, etc. so now whenever I go out most women look the same!!!
While the men follow the same haircut/gel/beard for their favorite sectarian boss.
    weeeeeeeeeee
    long live lebanese retardation…not…

We have those same magazines here in the United States at the Lebanese owned hair salons. I also question the validity of the photos. It sends out the message that people in Lebanon no nothing other then party and socialize.

I find it pathetic that the men and women try so hard and invest so much in materialistic and selfish pursuits. I would liken the people in the magazines to barbarians of old, no class or sense of self worth.

Instead of men and women investing their time, money, and efforts into something positive such as education, family, or the betterment of the community, they waste their lives on vanity, materials, and pursuits of the flesh.

Oh well, I will be sure to stay away from the “social scene” when I head to Beirut for vacation.

u made me loool this morning… i dont’ know which one is better looking at magazines showing the latest plastic package trends in a Supposedly “poor distressed unstable society/country”, or looking to a smaller-volume magazines (coughs**jaras**nadine**etc**coughs) showing fallacious and misleading stories about lebanese or arab artists .. or the worse …reading newspapers exposing shameful and pitiful quarrels between politicians allegedly representing our people, our societies and our youth…
To tell u the truth… “boobs, butts and balloon-lips” would be much better .. I wouldn’t agree more

You said: “I wish they would invest all their money in matters that are worthier than gossiping and showing off.”

Don’t forget that this gossiping and showing off is generating income for hundreds of people (literally: count the waiters of catering services, drivers, hairdressers, make-up artists, photographers, restaurants’ staff, clothing stores and everybody else in that sphere). Eventually, no matter how they invest their money, it all ends up to the same result, and it’s very good that these people keep spending money no matter how they decide to spend it.
