  • New job musing

    Bringing you exclusively..my new desk!

Actually, a more accurate depiction would be:

I'm still in euphoria-mode from new job. I guess the reason behind this can be simplified as follows [metaphorically speaking]

a while back... there was a box.

I know I’ve been talking a lot about this new step in my life, but this blog has always been and will always be the space to express myself, and I just had to draw those. Late night musings. This new job/setting/experience/life has given me splashes of motivation, positivity, that I can hopefully pass on to you as well πŸ™‚

Yea at this stage I wouldn’t be surprised if I started liking techno. Ok not that much πŸ˜› Here’s a [everything-but-techno] song for you πŸ™‚ Have a wonderful day!

Remember when I went to Jordan for CC Salon Amman? Well, now we’re finally organizing CC Salon Beirut with the help of Donatella, Habib, Naeema & Mohamad!

What I’d like to share with you is the design process of the poster, which is a collaborative design between the talented Naeema Zarif and myself, Γ  la Creative Commons πŸ˜‰

    Step 1: I designed this

Step2: I sent it to Naeema, who sent me this back!

  • Illustration for self-expression

I was very happy to give a workshop at Nasawiya about using illustration to deal with your frustrations. I had a great time, met lovely people, and we all drew and chatted about illustration. Add to that cake and juice, how better can it get? πŸ™‚

I’d like to thank Nadine Moawad and Joelle Hatem for helping me to organize it, Jessica Dheere from SMEX for the projector, and everyone who attended for their participation and making this fun!

Here’s the outcome of the workshop, for more photos, check out the Facebook photos.

  • Live from ArabNet – Day 2

All I can say is that ArabNetME conference KICKED A**! Congrats again to all who participated to making this event as successful as it was. I am proud of you all for organizing such a successful event to encourage the web in the Middle East and allow the “big” people and the “new” people to mingle. You have exceeded my expectations by far! πŸ™‚

  • Some updates

Here are some events to add to your busy calendars for Wednesday, Dec 16th

  • Introducing Live Tweeting!

And now… the project that has been keeping me just a little bit busy from you!

Live tweeting is a real-time interactive web application for multi-language live coverage, based on micro blogging service twitter. Dec 9 – 10 is “the” internet event of Europe, Le Web, and this application will allow Arabic speakers to follow the event live & translated! I will also be translating on Twitter tomorrow.

I got to design the livetweeting visual identity & website, and got to do some illustrations that you can discover throughout the website πŸ˜‰

Here is a scoop for you my darlings:

Illustration to represent LiveTweeting from the floor of Le Web:

Illustration to represent Crowdsourced Arabic Translation:

Illustration for wrong URL page (404):

    Illustration for Error page (500):

Now it’s true that I’ve overnighted a couple of times on this project πŸ˜› , but the biggest credit is due to the team who worked on it, Samer Karam (who came up with the concept), Beshr Kayali (who developed the whole site! and in very very short time!), Mohammad Kayali (who did the amazing video you just watched!), and supporters, contributors: Meedan.net,Β Maroun Najm, Omar Christidis, Habib Haddad, Emile Cubeisy, Elie El Khoury… What do you guys think of the outcome?

    See you tomorrow on www.livetweeting.com!

And last but not least, here’s a beautiful song to brighten up your day πŸ™‚ ‘Make Peace’ by Brad Mehldau & Pat Metheny (WHAT Β a combo!)
