To all of you who did post the colours & details of their bras, no offense :) It did add some spice and fun to Facebook – which has been getting boring after Twitter and all that jazz… But in my humble opinion, the campaign did not in any way raise awareness about cancer, it only got people discussing bra colors in flirty ways in the comments section.

Some interesting reads about the issue:

Enjoy, and before I leave you to your busy weeks, I’d like to dedicate a song by Lila Downs to you!

Enjoy! :)

Totally! It was a social media campaign with no stated action to take…how’s that supposed to help cancer?!

I totally agree with you … I did not totally get the connection and even the provided explanation did not make a lot of sense.

All in all, it is a definitely interesting case study about public understanding of awareness campaigns, words and pictures associations, and nonetheless, mental images!!

    Great post …

    dear Maya,

although i might understand your view, i strongly believe that this campaign had the purpose to talk about breast cancer and not raise money or get to action..

and it did reach it’s purpose, just by discussing if men think about boobs or cancer i think is a good start.. at least it made them talk about it..let us not always try to save the world with any campaign..it wasn’t the goal..if men and women know that 45000 women every year might not be able to wear any color of bra, they will think about breast cancer more often..

    love what u do btw

mentioning Colors on girls facebook status was supposed to let everybody pay attention and ask why?
mentionning that this is the bar’s color was not supposed to be known from everybody!!!! only girls!
the objective is to let people pay attention and ask why!!! and the answer is: its a reminder to breast cancer awarness
anyway it was a succsseful campaign…. it made almost everybody write or talk about it…regarding if they were with or not.

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but unless you learned a new fact about breast cancer that day, it was unsuccessful. It only got people to feel more comfortable to talk about their boobs in public rather than just in private. If anything, it was successful for breast awareness, but that’s it.
